The original building was a bi-level 2,400 ft² footprint when it was purchased by S.O. Asher Consultants to house their new head office. The primary design challenge was creating an addition in which team members located in the basement could maintain connection with their team. The solution was a “less is more” approach in which approximately 400 ft²of floor area was removed from the original main floor area, resulting in a large, light filled central hub that is used for team meetings and provides maximum integration for all team members. Totaling 8,730 ft² on four levels, the project encompasses offices, meeting rooms a roof top patio, an attached garage and an elevator. The building envelope, concrete foundations and slabs, steel erection, metal cladding and exterior and interior carpentry were all completed by employees.
